Figure 1 illustrates standard single lip design. The "S" type designs are the single lip oil seal with a garter spring to provide a consistent radial load against the shaft.
Figure 2 illustrates standard double lip designs. The feature of "T" type designs, corresponding to "ES" type, is the additional lip to prevent dirt and corrosion.
